Well today i released my FREE album “Christmas Love & Peace” as my gift to all who have supported me in my first serious(ish) year in music which saw the release of my first album and first gig too.
The album was going to be an EP at first but there are so many christmas songs i enjoy i had to add more, the first set of songs recorded were The Spirit Of Christmas (A Message Of Love), Let There Be Peace (Soon It Will Be Christmas), Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas and Silent Night, those recordings took place on the 11th of October during an 8 hour session at Sound Gallery Studios, Exeter. After the session i had an inkling i could/should of done perhaps some more festive favourites of mine but i initially decided against doing this.
However in early November when selecting the running order for my yet-to-be-released next album i thought i’d see if i could add a few more christmas tracks to the planned EP as i booked a 2 hour session at Sound Gallery Studios to create a CD mix of my next potential album.
The session took place on the 15th of November and during that session i managed to lay down enough tracks to make a 10 track album instead of an EP. During the session i recorded my latest song Ramblin’ Christmas Blues which i wrote just 5 days earlier on the 10th, the songs narrative is a simple one, a song about someone alone at christmas thinking of a past love, despite it’s slightly sad nature i do love the song and hope others do too, along with my 2 other original christmas songs.
The final tracklist for album is as follows – 1. The Spirit Of Christmas (A Message Of Love) 2. Let There Be Peace (Soon It Will Be Christmas) 3. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas 4. Ramblin’ Christmas Blues 5. Blue Christmas 6. Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree 7. Winter Wonderland 8. The Christmas Song 9. White Christmas 10. Silent Night.
Three songs didn’t make the release, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, Silver Bells and All I Want For Christmas Is You, these songs might appear on my SoundCloud page at some point, so keep your eyes peeled.
The artwork for album i did myself, i used some photos of Newton Abbot (my home town) that i took in 2011 during a rather heavy snowfall. In order to promote this release a little more and in an attempt to increase interest in my music i created some flyers to help promote the release which have been left in pubs, on trains and stuck on empty shop windows.
If you’re reading this blog and have made it this far firstly i thank you for doing so and secondly if you haven’t downloaded the album you can do so by going to http://www.rossmayhew.co.uk or just go straight to this MediaFire link where it’s hosted.
Enjoy! And a Merry Christmas to you and yours!
